The Yes Men are at it again…

I love these guys so much  I want to marry them. And their latest thing is good enough t bring me back to blogging. They posed as ExxonMobil and National Petroleum Council (NPC) representatives and delivered an outrageous keynote speech to 300 oilmen at GO-EXPO, Canada’s largest oil conference, held at Stampede Park in Calgary, Alberta.

As the world is headed towards the climatic unknown, they proposed to turn dead humans into oil.

“We’re not talking about killing anyone,” added the “NPC rep.” “We’re talking about using them after nature has done the hard work. After all, 150,000 people already die from climate-change related effects every year. That’s only going to go up – maybe way, way up. Will it all go to waste? That would be cruel.”

Here’s an article about the stunt, and here’s the ExxonMobil/Vivoleum page.

  1. jaaaaa! neeeeeee!

i wanted to marry them first alreadyy! 😀

should make some hurry though, since i said this first after their Dow-Ethics/Bhopal ActiFun. yet years… sigh…

  2. Amazing! Never heard about them, but from now on I’ll follow their activities. Inspiring as well, sems to be a very effective method to spread ‘insight’.

  3. I saw a documentation about them on phönix few months ago., called in german “globalisierung, nein danke”, about the yes men and the wto.
It`s amazing and very funny what they have reached with those easy website-copy’s.

  4. Ah, that Yes Men documentary is fantastic. It was only yesterday I found out it means ‘jaknikker’ or ‘jabroer’ in Dutch. And now I read about it again.

Anyway, I think Anthony Burgess (writer of A Clockwork Orange) wrote a science fiction story about human bodies being used as fertilizers. ‘The Wanting Seed’ the book is called I believe.
