Chaosradio about ‘we lost the war’

If you like listening to radio (I personally like reading a lot better than listening), you might like the recent Chaosradio episode about the ‘we lost the war’ theme. Warning: it’s in German (and sometimes even in southern German) and includes optimism, pessimism, strange callers and what not.

My kid…

I’m in Berlin, vivisting the Chaos Computer Club Berlin with some friends from ASCII. And because Carla has taken Floris (one of my sons) for the school vacations, Milo (the other son) went with us.

So I spent all of yesterday seeing the sights. Today has seen slightly lesser weather, so we stayed in. Milo got

Ahead of his time

One fascist pig that is ahead of his time. But not by much…

HOUSTON — Houston’s police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime during a shortage of police officers.

Kick ‘em when they’re down

Drats… Just as I was enjoying the afterglow of a nice party, the cops have to mess it up.

Amsterdam used to be a relatively nice place if you have no roof over your head. Here the state will pay social security in cash to those that have no bank account and no fixed address. So

The band, Elwood! The band!

Holy damn! This last weekend saw a party that was so good that I feel almost guilty for not inviting you all. As some of you may know, a part of my history is interwoven with that of a small subculture that, among other things, threw what I think were some of the better home-parties

The code is extremely simple, it does nothing but reverse dns for the remote host, and then output the second-level domain, unless it is one of co|gov|org|ac|edu, in which case it outputs the third level domain. (And it upper-cases XS4ALL because xs4all

Australia

No I did not forget my blog, I’ve just been programming again. Also I just booked my ticket for Australia, where I will visit a friend. I will be in Sydney part of the time, but will also be travelling around, possibly in a mobile home. I fly there on the 15th of March, and

The NSA performs its own oversight

“Mr. Attorney General,” Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont said at one point, “I’m getting the impression this administration picks and chooses what it’s subject to.” Senators asked directly if opening first class mail or listening to calls beginning and ending inside the U.S. without notifying a court could be justified under the same argument.

John Perry Barlow blogged about something interesting he heard in Bush’s State of the Union Address. [ Link ]

Comments

I’ve noticed nobody comments my postings to this blog. Makes me wonder if I should employ the old technique: after all some of the best letters to Hack-Tic were the ones we wrote ourselves…
